How To Talk About Using CBD – CBD Instead

How To Talk About Using CBD

Published on

There is still an undeniable stigma about cannabis that has many cannabis users staying hidden in the closet about their use. Even CBD oil is held under a negative light with some people because of its association with THC. But there are ways that you can talk to your friends and family about using CBD hemp oil.

Why Talk About Cannabis?

To some people, it might not matter if the cannabis oil comes from the hemp plant. Some people have it in their minds that cannabis is bad and this is simply because they don’t know enough about it.

So why even bring it up if they don’t agree with your choices?

This negative frame of mind is also what is keeping people from trying medical cannabis, which means they could be missing out on something wonderful for their body and mind. This stigma is what is keeping people from trying it because they don’t want to be judged by their family or peers. But this negative stigma stops the more we educate people around us. But if you are going to be open about your cannabis use, you need to know a few key talking points in the conversation you are going to have.

Yes, CBD Is Cannabis

“But I’m just using CBD. It’s not like I’m smoking a joint.”

Right, but you are still a cannabis user. Even if you just put a little bit of CBD on your joints every night to help you sleep, you use cannabis. Even if the product you use has little to no THC in it and comes from a plant engineered to be CBD potent, you are a cannabis user. This means that any negative frame of mind you yourself have had should be out the window when it comes to cannabis use.

CBD Is Not THC

While CBD is cannabis, it is a completely different chemical from THC. It doesn’t interact with your brain in the same way. Though there is nothing wrong with THC use considering it also carries a long list of healing potential, it is important to note that these two chemicals are not the same. This means that people worrying about drug tests don't have to fear losing their job just to get healthy.

Medical Cannabis Doesn’t Have To Get You High

If you are using a product that comes from hemp grade cannabis or a strain that is mostly CBD, you don’t get high off of it. This isn’t something to “get the edge off” like drinking a glass of wine at the end of the night, and it’s not an escape like many other substances. You can use medical cannabis without searching for the euphoric high.

CBD Oil Is Non-Addictive

One of the main reasons people switch to CBD oil instead of common pharmaceuticals is because it works and it’s nonaddictive. It has even helped people quit their addictions, showing in studies to help reduce cravings and relapse.

CBD Is Safe

From children to seniors to pets, all can enjoy the benefits of CBD oil. Studies have shown that even at high doses CBD hemp oil is very safe to use. The side-effects do exist, but they are less common and less severe. You also cannot overdose on medical cannabis, making a safe option for those who have difficulty with their mental health.

Be Patient

When talking to your friends or loved ones about your cannabis use, the goal is to educate to help relieve the cannabis community of this terrible stigma that is keeping the movement from progressing. But this isn’t to encourage an argument, more of a discussion.

I have had countless conversations with people who started out being against cannabis use and then after they learned new information they took it home to sit on and began to reevaluate their views. You aren’t trying to change anyone’s mind overnight. Just giving them new information so they can make better decisions.

Have you opened up about your cannabis use to anyone recently? How did it go? Were they accepting? We would love to hear your story in the comment section below!
