How Long Does it Take for CBD Oil to Work?

Published on

Many people who are looking into CBD oil have exhausted all other options and have finally landed on using medical cannabis. With all of the buzz on the news, why not give it a try with all of this seeming success? But when you have exhausted all options for treatment, you have also exhausted all of your patience, so you need answers, and you need them now. One of the most important questions when it comes to taking any time of medicine is how long does it take for CBD hemp oil to work?

When Do You Start Noticing CBD Oil?

When you first start taking CBD oil, you should start at a low dose just like you would with most medications. You aren’t necessarily looking for symptom changes as much as you are looking for adverse effects or allergies. It is extremely important that your doctor is included throughout all processes of this journey regardless of how safe CBD hemp oil has shown in studies to be.

When it comes to CBD oil, the way that you take it plays a role in how long the medications takes to get in your system. There is both fast acting methods as well as extended release. Fast acting methods can start to take effect within the first 15-30 minutes, but the effects only last for up to 4 to 6 hours. Extended-release may take 30-90 minutes to kick in, but the effects can last for up to 8 hours helping to grant relief throughout most of your day. So when taking CBD oil and you wonder how you should take CBD oil, the answer lies in when you need the relief and for how long.

Fast Acting

  • Vape
  • Tincture
  • Topical
  • Oral Spray
  • Concentrate
  • Suppositories

Extended Release

  • Pills
  • Edibles
  • Suppositories

When do You See Symptom Changes in CBD Oil?

Once you and your doctor have decided that CBD oil is the best method of treatment and your body is accepting the herbal remedy, you can start to raise your dose. CBD oil is dose-dependent which means that too much or too little isn’t as effective. This is why gradually raising your dose is so important, you don’t want to miss your sweet spot also known as the “Goldilocks Zone.”

Depending on your biology, the severity of your pain, and your symptoms, you may experience symptoms changes in as little as one week, and some have reported a full month before they started seeing the symptom changes, they were looking for. But because everyone is different, every dose and every experience will be different as well.

Have you taken CBD oil before? How long until you noticed a difference and how long until your symptom changes were enough to improve your quality of life? We would love to hear about it in the comment section below!
