You may be thinking of making the change for you or your furry friend. When giving your cat medicine, it’s important to know how to do it, so you don’t hurt them. Also, have you ever tried to medicate a cat or make a cat do anything they don't want? It's not always a walk in the park. The easiest way to go about this is to buy CBD treats.

For cats who enjoy treats, buying CBD treats is a similar strategy to pill pockets. Instead of having to buy the pills separately, you have treats that are infused with the medication. By getting delicious flavors, your cat will actually like, your cat may start enjoying taking medicine. But not every cat will eat treats. Some cats may be too sick even to try. And that is when people use a different form of administration

CBD Pills

When giving tinctures or capsules to your cat, you are most likely going to need to embrace them, so they don’t move. The best way to do this and come out unscathed is to hold them in a towel so they can’t run and scratch as easy.

When giving your cat a pill that they won't eat hidden in food, you need to hold their mouth open with your finger and thumb and put the tablet in their mouth. Try to aim for past the arch of their tongue, when they try to spit it out it will actually push the pill back farther so they can swallow it. Lead them to their water when they are done to ensure that the tablet went down all the way.

CBD Tinctures

If you are using droppers to give your cat CBD, be careful how you hold them. If you hold your cats head back too far, they may inhale the medicine. Put your finger and thumb in the jaw joints, and place the dropper in between the cheek and the teeth of your cat and release the medication into their mouth. Make sure you don’t flood their mouth with the hemp oil, this means they aren’t swallowing. By overfilling their mouth, you can cause future health problems from them inhaling the medicine.

Once you have gotten the CBD oil in their mouth, gently keep their mouth closed and stroke their throat or lightly blow on their nose to encourage swallowing. This experience is not going to be fun for your cat, so be sure to give them a treat to let them know you appreciate them.
