CBD For Gingivitis – CBD Instead

CBD For Gingivitis

Published on

When you brush your teeth, do you spit out a little bit of pink? That is blood from your gums and the first signs of developing gingivitis. Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease and is completely reversible with the right care, and CBD oil may be able to help.

By putting CBD in your toothpaste, you may be able to help fight gingivitis because of cannabidiol’s antibacterial properties. Having CBD hemp oil in your toothpaste may also help with any itching you may feel due to the inflammation caused by gingivitis. But fighting gingivitis is easier when you have the proper oral hygiene.

Why Do We Get Gingivitis

Gingivitis is when your gums are swollen because bacteria and your spit have mixed and are forming plaque on your teeth. Everytime you eat or drink something, you are feeding this bacteria which is why it is suggested to brush after every meal.

If you don’t take care of this plaque on your teeth, it can turn into tartar which is more solid and harder to remove. The tartar can start attacking the gums making them become inflamed and giving you gingivitis.

Antibacterials and a healthy oral hygiene routine can help with the gingivitis, but if you don’t take care of it once you start noticing the symptoms of red and swollen gums and spitting pink into the sink when you brush your teeth, it can turn into periodontitis. This gum disease is much harder to treat and can become irreversible.

How CBD Can Help

Inflammation

If your gums are itching, it’s not only something annoying, but it’s a sign that your gums are inflamed to fight off bacteria. Because CBD interacts with the CB2 cannabinoid receptor by elevating the endocannabinoid 2-AG, it may be able to help with the inflammation by inhibiting the production of the attacking immune cells.

Antibacterial

Gingivitis is when bacteria is attacking your mouth, which is why some doctors will prescribe antibacterial toothpaste to help combat the progression of the disease. Cannabidiol has shown in studies to be a potent antibacterial which may make it a suitable treatment for gum disease.

Go To The Dentist

Even though CBD may be able to help fight the bacteria that cause gingivitis, you should still make regular visits to the dentist. They can help remove the tartar that has developed and can give you a good teeth cleaning. They can even give you tips on how to up your oral hygiene game!
