When you have courage, it isn’t that you are unable to feel fear. In fact, fear is a necessary response we need to survive. But when you have a mental illness that makes your fear louder than any other emotion, courage can feel impossible to muster up.

Cannabidiol can’t give you the liquid courage of lowering your inhibitions, who would want that anyway? That courage is empty, dirty, and fake. True courage comes from within, and CBD can just help you discover it.

The Amygdala

When you suffer from trauma or have an illness that makes anxiety and stress your everyday feeling, your amygdala is probably overactive. It may feel like you can’t control your brain because your brain has changed completely. When the amygdala is overactive, it sends out more hormones than your brain needs, causing you to become more emotional than you’d prefer.

It can be easy for someone to advise to lot let your emotions get the best of you. One of the hardest parts about mental illness is that it changes the way that you feel and think. When your brain floods with chemicals, it can be challenging to push that down and try to have a level head. After all, these chemicals in your brain are there for a reason. To push you. But when your brain is overactive, you get pushed too far and too often, and it can become a terrifying world out there.

How CBD Can Help

Cannabidiol may help calm your brain down so that you can think naturally through its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. Your CB1 receptors are in charge of regulating your mood, and the anandamide in your brain is supposed to help make sure that there isn’t too much going on. Through a process called retrograde signaling, the anandamide travels backward through the synapse to send a message to the sending cell. This message tells your brain to either give out more hormones or to send less.

If you struggle with courage because of your mental health, making your emotions less severe can help you retrain your thought process. It is easy to be fearful and down on yourself when your emotions are driving you to feel that way. CBD can help by taking those emotions out of the equation, but you have to work towards thinking more positively.
