CBD While Pregnant, Is It Safe? – CBD Instead

CBD While Pregnant, Is It Safe?

Published on

Many pregnant mothers are wondering if they can take CBD while pregnant. There is a little human brewing in their body, and nothing is going to hurt that baby if momma can help it. But the morning sickness, and the pain, and the mood swings, there has got to be some option, right? Women aren’t destined to suffer for the entire 9 months, we just won't have it! But the little person inside always comes first, so is it safe for pregnant women to take CBD?

The short answer, we aren’t quite sure. Of course, we do have some idea. But when it comes to the amazing mothers harboring the future of our world, we have to be absolutely sure before suggesting it’s okay for them to take a medication. It may be safe and well tolerated at high doses, but without clinical trials, it is difficult to commit to a positive answer.

So what do we know? Well, we know that CBD has helped mothers with their nausea, mood swings, and pain. Many of the mothers who have taken it haven’t reported adverse effects, though that doesn’t mean they don’t happen.

We know that cannabidiol is very well tolerated across all ages and at high doses. Many parents are giving it to their children as young as two, and to their parents as old at 80. However, a developing body is a completely different story, especially in such early stages of development. There are virtually no clinical trials on the subject, but that will hopefully change.

In 2010, when they did studies on pregnant mice with CBD, they found that CBD reduced uterine contractions. They make a point to note that the chemicals that CBD elevates are already present in our bodies and raise naturally before contractions begin.

There have also been studies explaining that the abuse of marijuana has shown damage to the fetus. They demonstrate how marijuana, including the chemical CBD, may alter the placenta. This could result in abnormal pregnancies, but clinical trials are needed for affirmation.

If you are wanting to take CBD, the first thing you need to do is talk to your doctor. Not every doctor is marijuana friendly, and second opinions are always encouraged. However, you should not jump from doctor to doctor until you get the answer you’re looking for, especially when it comes to the health of your newest family member.

If your doctor suggests small doses of CBD for your nausea, mood swings, or pain, check out our shop! We have safe and easy to use products that can make building a human a little easier.
